Syncro Scan

I have to shoot a scene that involves an actor watching television. At first I wanted to just blue screen the TV and add the picture in later, but the shot involves a slow pan across the room and I don't want to deal with that pain in post.

So, here's my question: I was experimenting with the synchro scan to get the TV flicker in my living room to disappear. Mission accomplished. But, I forgot where it was set before? What is the optimal or default setting for synchro scan for standard shooting conditions under normal (controlled) tungsten lighting? And how different is that scene going to look, adjusted for the TV in frame, than the rest my project without the adjustment?

Thanks!

There is no "standard", although the factory default is 1/48.0.

And it likely won't look different at all; you probably ended up on 1/60th, and it would take a very, very trained eye to see any discernible difference between 1/48 and 1/60.

Synchro scan settings are not inflluenced by the ambient light. Depending on how fast the pan needs to be, you can end up with a slight horizontal break somewhere in the image even with perfect synchro scan setting. Better use an LCD TV and get rid of synchro scan stuff.
