synchronous output and recording?

Hello All,

I have an upcoming project and have been asked by the client to film with 2 HMC's- one cam will be stationary and used to film/record from the front of the stage while outputting the signal for projection on a large screen. The second cam will not be connected to any additional equipment and used for various angles and perspectives of the event.
My questions are regarding recording an event and outputting the signal via composite or HDMI for projection on a theatre screen through one HMC150.

. Can this be done? Would there be any concerns with outputting the signal and recording at the same time through the one cam? Tips?

. Should there be any other consideration with the above-mentioned set up?

As this would be my first foray into multi-cam shoots, any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated....many thanks.

Yes you can use an HMC150 as a live camera feed. You can output live through component or HDMI, whether or not you're recording. No issues, no problems.

If you're recording on both cameras, you should synchronize their timecode first. And make sure to use the same scene file on both so they'll match up better.

Thanks Barry! So would I be correct in understanding that once the component/HDMI is connected, it will automatically 'feed'. In other words, I do not need to set anything up on the cam or be recording. Other than the matching timecode/scene files (as described in your book) I should be good to go! Awesome...thanks much for the quick response.

Yes, the output is always live. Although, I am not sure that both component and HDMI are live at the same time, I think you get one or the other but not both...
