Synching timecode between HVX and Varicam

What's the best way to synch timecode between these two cameras? I'm thinking that Firewire is the only way, but it's been a while since I've worked with the Varicam...does it even have a Firewire port?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

No firewire on the VariCam. You can't really sync timecode between those two. I mean, you can, there's always a way, but not an easy way. Only way I can think of is to use another camera or deck as an intermediate -- like an HPX500, for example. You could sync the 500 to the VariCam using the VariCam's TC OUT and the 500's TC IN. Then you could sync the 200 to the 500 through firewire. But that's about the only way I can think of.
 
Thanks Barry, I appreciate the response. Looks like we'll be slating at the top of each take...old school but it'll work the best.
Great job on the HVX DVDs by the way! I've been watching them to get up to speed on the camera and workflow for the doc I'm about to shoot. Any plans for an HVX bootcamp in NYC?
 
just send LTC signal from TC generator to audio channels on both camera and then auto synch at the post.
avid has built-in auto synch option , FCP needs third party plug-ins
