Sync issues after render all in FCP

Hi all,

I have been working with the HVX200 for a few days now. I have noticed that once Ive got my footage into my timeline and all edited and have added all my titling and effects and then hit render that all of a sudden all of my HVX footage is now out of sync. The problem as far as I can tell is that it is repeating one frame of the rendered clip. As a result there is a vidual jump on the screen and the audio become unsynced. Has anyone else run into this problem? This only happens on the HVX footage. I also have Varicam footage as well and that stays in sync and does not "skip".

G5, tons of ram, Kona board, HVX200 720 24PN mode, mixing with varicam footage, FCP 5.0.4.

Help please!

What do you mean by repeating one frame of the rendered clip? Why are you rendering? I'm assuming titling/effects. But you say "all of a suddent the footage is out of sync". Was it in sync at some point? Is it off by one frame for an entire clip? How long is the clip? Is it a 23.976 to 24fps thing? Just guessing. Not sure why you are rendering an entire clip at this point. Can you outline your sequence settings?

ok...for example.

I have two HVX clips captured into FCP. I put both clips on the time line. As they stand alone on the timeline the play fine. BUT if I create a disolve from one clip to the other, or put titleing or effects or basically anything that will require me to render for a final output it becomes unsynced from the audio by one frame.

This ONLY happens on the HVX clips. I also have Varicam clips and other media and all of those work fine.

Now what I can see happening is that when the clips are rendered the very first frame of the disolve is a copy of the previous frame. THEN it actually begins to disolve. So for some reason FCP is adding in that "extra" repeated frame. Thus moving the audio out of sync.

This occurs no matter how long or short a slip is. 4 seconds, 5 minutes, it doesnt seem to matter. But only on clips that are from the HVX.

Here is some info that I know:

HVX200 - 720 24PN
FCP Sequence setting - EASY SETUP DVCPRO HD 720p24 (according to apple/panasonic this is the setting that should be used)

One workaround that Ive managed to figure out is that if I take each individual HVX clip and export it as a self contained quicktime movie and then re-import it back into FCP and then re-edit it into my time line the problem goes away. Of course as Murphy's Law would have it I've already done a weeks worth of editing. To have to re-edit this 1/2 hour documentary would be horrible...and out of the budget and time!
