sync, cut, make subclip?

I've got a .mov file that the audio/video sync pretty far is off. So I put the clip on the timeline, unlink the audio and video, move the audio to regain sync for the part I'm interested in, then use the razor to make my cuts. When I play this back on the program monitor, it works and it's in sync. So far so good.

I'm going to have to do this a number of times with the original .mov file to get the useful bits out for use in the final sequence. To make it easier to keep track of what I'm doing, I'd like to make this cut into a subclip -- then I could name it and store it in my clip bin which would make it easier to find when it comes time to assemble the sequence.

But to make a subclip, I've got to relink the audio and video. And when I do that, I loose sync -- it looses my slip -- it reverts back to the out-of-sync original timing.

How do I make a subclip that will maintain my new audio/video alignment?

My suggestion is to export the newly synced clip to a new file and use that as the basis for making subclips, otherwise you're going to end up with a world of hurt!
