Is there a way to sync the 24P cadence in 2 DVX's, I have plans to use 2 DVX's for a 3D project (polarized) recording at 24P but I must get the same cadence in both cameras.
There's no genlocking you can do. I'd say the best thing to do would be to shoot in 24PA mode, and import the footage into a 24p-aware NLE, and remove the pulldown. Then you can line the two timelines up frame-accurately, with no pulldown complications. Then you could render back to DV tape, introducing pulldown, and know that they're consistent.
I would say the other thing you could do is use the remote to control both cameras. Do not press the record button on each camera, instead, press the record button on the remote, this will make each camera start and stop (at least in theory) at exactly the same moment. That way each frame should be exactly lined up. Good luck.
That's a good point. Don't know how exactly reliable it will be, because it might take a moment for each camera's tape drive to spool up to speed, but it's definitely worth trying.
Since the DVX always records "A" frame to non drop 30 frame timecodes ending in 0 and 5, the cadence is not the issue, the bigger issue us getting the two cameras to lock to the same timecode. You can try the remote control technique to give both camera the same start for time of day timecode to see what you can get or record a common LTC to both cameras to create a sync relationship. But being 3D, it needs to be the exact same frame for reference so testing is in order.
