I'm interested in buying an EF mount for the F3, but I'm terrified to take off the PLmount, as its absolutly perfectly backfocused.

Anyone done any switching? Does it throw the backfocus off if you change mounts?

I have been using the MTF Nikon mount without any issues. Removing the supplied PL mount seemed not to be detrimental in re back-focus.

Ditto Doesn't seem to create a problem because backfocus, being mechanical, should hold as long as you are tightened (but not overtorqued) with your allen wrench. Ironically, changing lenses on my EX-3 often required recalibrating backfocus since it was electronic rather than manual.

I have the MTF F3->Nikon adapter. A little stiff, but Mike Tapa says that's normal for a new mount and that is deliberate on their part. I'd be interested in hearing your experience with Canon EF mount.

Hve you guys switching mts been doing it with Primes or parfocal zooms. If only primes then it may not make much difference. With zooms it can be critical. My experience testing admittedly very quickly is not so sanguine.

I Have all Nikon zooms and primes with an MTF adapter. All the zooms are parfocal at a back focus I set that seems to work.

My friend has a RED 18-85 PL lens on his F3 and has checked & adjusted backfocus with his.

If I take off my MTF and put on Sony PL adapter - His RED lens on my camera does not have correct backfocus.

Moreover his Sony PL adapter and my Sony PL adapter with the RED PL 18-85 lens on my camera were out of focus quite differently - leading me to conclude that our PL adapters are different.

Did not have time to test more thoroughly, but it implies at least that Sony PL adapters aren't uniform.

I don't have any PL zooms just the 3 Sony PL lenses and a large assortment of Nikkor lenses including and old 80 to 200 f4 and 80 to 200 f4.5. Both zooms are parfocal and work work just fine on my camera.
