Switching to 24-70 FE from 24-105 EF

Hi guys

Anybody have any experience with the native 24-70 incomparison to the Canon, how they felt / performed, optically & physically.

I love the versatility of the 24-105 but I hate the light leaks/flaring I get with various adapters. I would probably supplement the loss of range with the 70-200 f4 when needed.

Im about 80% ready to take the jump but all the reviews are a little off putting. Are these just reviews from pixel peeping photographers?

Pros:

Lightweight/Balanced for handheld
No leaks/minimized flaring
AF for stills
Better IS/OSS

Cons:

Focus by wire
Reviews aren't stellar

personally I find focus by wire not that bad on that lens. It's much worse on the 70-200 f4 that I own as well.
Optically it's ok. It doesn't do wonders, but it's nice and compact

I would like to get the Sigma 24-105 with new E Mount adapter. I think this will be a killer lens now since the Sigma Canon mount to E Mount should perform better than the Metabones does.

Good idea Erik, Ill wait to see how the MC11 performs before I jump the gun on the 24-70 FE. But if only the 24-105 had 77mm instead of 82mm Id still be able to use my NDs :( I guess I cant have everything.

What about the new 24-70 2.8? Looks stellar, except it doesn't have OSS :(

In Canada where our dollar isn't the greatest right now, it would cost $3276 (CAD) w/ taxes. I can easily find a used good copy of the FE 24-70 f4 here for $850-900 (CAD). If budget wasn't an issue for me right now, it would probably be my first choice.
