Should I clean the heads of my DVX100A if I switch the type of tape used during filming? I think I came across this somewhere... for example, if I used ME then MQ.

Please help.

I never clean if I don't need to or if it doesn't ask me to...

Re: Switching tapes

Its the lubricants on the tapes that cause the problems. Best is to just stick with one brand, and also one formulation. "for example" the answer is yes, clean heads. But a lot of switching does not require this, and for other brand switches it is very important. Sony / non-sony seems to be the biggest issue from what I have read.

I am curious why you are planning ahead for tape brand switching. Is this to achieve some effect?
