Did this little tutorial on using Memory Recall. If you haven't setup your camera with it you should defiantly try it out. It will make going from Stills to Video fluid with the right shutter angle and Picture Profiles, also HFR settings can be saved with the proper 180 degree shutter angle. Even going from 4K to HD can be saved. Setup your Sony camera so it works for you quickly with the right settings by using Memory Recall.

Nice explanation.

When I got my a7S and saw how this works, I inmediately fell in love with it. Then I noticed it didn't store my "APS-C or FF" settings, which was a bit of a bummer but I thought I could get over that. Then I realized all your Memory Recall settings are lost if you format the card. WTF Sony. I haven't used it ever since.

On the RX100 you have 3 that is saved on the camera not on a memory card. With the A7rii Memory Recall on Mode Dial 1 and 2 stores them in the camera as well. Unfortunately the M1, M2, M3 and M4 is stored on the SD Card. :-(

(heads over to camera drawer, to try this out, because if it's not deleted anymore then THIS IS AWESOME)

edit: confirmed, I set all three memory positions in my RX100 IV (set for 24 fps 1/50s, 60 fps 1/100s, and 120 fps 1/200s, all with slog2 Flaat, plus M with my stills settings) and they all survived an SD card format and a battery swap. This is really, really nice now.
THANKS FOR THE TIP

I found another reason not to use memory recall: white balance. I normally carry with me a small grey card and use custom WB, and yesterday I found that when I'm in a memory preset the camera doesn't let me set a new custom balance. Also, if you stick to the defaults, changing modes will reset your white balance to whatever was stored in the definition of the memory preset (so, I can change to daylight, but if I go to M to take a still and then back to M1, I need to set WB again). Back to my old ways, it seems...
