Sweet slider

Hi all, just another general question, I currently have the glide track but am not impressed. It's very sticky and frustrating to use. I was wondering what sliders you guys would recommend for the af100? I want sweet tracks but also ideally ones where i could do vertical tracking shots to. (Dont know if id need a different tripod though from my manfrotto 501 hdv). Thanks Taras

I have the Glide Track HD Hybrid - a little better than the standard as it has wheels as well as low friction plastic. It's OK, but still jerky, especially with a big lens attached. My new favourite toy though, and for me the pick of the show at IBC this year is the Floatcam Dolly Crane http://www.floatcam.eu/e_dollycrane.htm It's not cheap at £3700 euros, but it's the best track/crane/dolly I've seen in years. Superbly engineered, really solid and because it uses a counterweight system it's really (and I mean REALLY) smooth both on the flat or on angles, which it moves to easily. It can also double up as a small crane, plus an extra 1400 Euros gets you a servo motor with full acceleration control that gives you control over the track from 10 seconds to 4 days. Perfect for timelapse. I know it's expensive, but it's top of my list, and I'd say it's really worth the money - an absolutely astounding bit of kit. (I don't work for them by the way!)

can you post some footage that was shot with the glide track?

I just went all out and bought a Kessler Cineslider. It's pricier. But it's like your tripod, you'll keep it FOREVER. It's solidly built and I'm able to put much larger cameras on it. I even put a full 16mm Arriflex camera from a shoot with it. The DP, (I was 1st AC on the shoot) said it was the best slider he's ever used.

Here's a pic of my rig on my cineslider shooting earlier this year:
