I will be ordering my DVX100b on monday the 28th! Im extremely happy right now. We had been shooting on our garbage cameras for 2.5yrs, then we got a GL1. HUGE improvement. And now the DVX...I dont know if I can wait a week.

This site was VERY helpful in choosing my camera. We were going to go with a GL2 or DVC30 and audio equipment, but with the oportunity to get this camera we cant really pass it up. We can always rent the audio stuff until we get more cash.

Im pretty sure Im going to get it from EVS but need to check everyones prices first. The camera and a extended battery are all we are gonna start out with...

We shoot skits, we have a "show", weddings, movies... Like I said everyting...

I guess mostly it will be used as our #1 camera for our video business. We will use it for our skits, and show but most of that will probably be filmed with the GL1 unless Im there with the DVX. And we have been working on a few movie ideas that we never wanted to shoot until we had a respectable camera.
 
Cool! Congrats! I was always a GL 1/2 guy before we got the HVX. Ive always like them for event shooting, we did alot of wrestling shoots for DVD for companies. Beat the crap out of those cams and they never failed us. Well one did, i think it got the crap beat out of it too much, so it became a stationary camera when it stopped opening the tape door. :P
 
well this freaking sucks!

Most places either are sold out or are in cali... If I order in cali I have to pay an extra $250 in tax... fullcompass is out of stock, evs is in cali, able cine is in cali...

I called Willoughby's and they have them in stock. I ordered it online, then called to "expidite" the order... "we dont have them in stock, we only have the pro package..." I said cancel the order, he wants to call me back and see if he can split up the package. He calls me back 2min later and says he can give me a smaller package, still over my budget... what a scam, F Willoughby's! Canceled the order and now need to see whats up... I guess it is gonna have to be grey market time, I need this camera NOW! We have been turning down business...

Im so freakin mad right now...

Does B&H makes deals over the phone?
 
You can try dealing with B&H, but don't rule out california yet. California has a reduced sales tax rate for production equipment, it's about 3%, which would make the tax on a DVX about $100. Which is probably less than it'd cost to get express shipping from NY, plus you get it right now, plus you support a local dealer.
 
B&H dropped the price for me... But then I found out that I have a $1500 limit per day on my bank visa... ugh

But they do a 10% on card and the rest cod! So I will have my camera on wednesday!!!

EVS didnt mention anything to me about the reduced tax..

Thanks for the info though, I cant wait for the camera

I know I can order most stuff from anywhere but ILLinois and not pay taxes. Not Apple computers. I've never tried California...

Man, I just dont get it. Why is doing business in a straight forward and honest manner so damn difficult? Thats pathetic!.

Aside from holding a bank check 10 days after it cleared, my one experience with Willoughbys was actually a relief following incredible frustration with AbleCine NY. BUT after reading THAT, I dont think I'll call them again. I know you are PO'd Skits and rightfully so but they actually did us all a favor. Word like that needs to get around. Thanks for letting everyone know and enjoy your new baby when it gets in.

So far I dont think I've come across anything negative about EVS. Anyone know different?
 
ya there is no way I would have actually ordered grey market... but man it was so frustrating.

Im still mad at my bank for making me pay $9 for a c.o.d because I cant spend MY money the way I want to...
 
Always found it funny that I have no daily limit on my credit cards, but when it comes to my check card being money that is actually mine, the bank limits the amount I can spend a day

Congrats on your future DVX purchase

I bought my DVX a month ago and only have 5 hours on it, but I've been really happy with my purchase having no complaints, glad I got the DVX instead of something else, have this forum and Barry's book I bought before the camera to thank for that.
 
If you ever have a question about who is an authorized dealer and who is not, or a question about any topic concerning these boards, you can search the threads. Its probably been asked many times before.
Its good protocol to look first, then ask. These boards are full of information.
