Howdy all-
Here are some quick-n-dirty frame grabs from our recent music video shoot for the Swanks (www.theswanksrock.com). These do not do justice to what we captured! I'm a Video Vegas newbie, which is what I used, so I'm probably getting subpar snaps.
We shot out-of-the-box F6 (24PA) with the iris wide open, and added one click of internal ND filter. It was primarily handheld, but we also used a few tripod shots. We had an Arri lightkit with 650, 350, and 150 watt lights, as well as a couple of Lowell 450s for fill. We also used a full-stop collapsable silk (never leave home without one) and a monster smoke machine. We rented the Panny Anamorphic Adapter for this shoot.
I was originally going to go with a shuttle speed of 1/250 or so, but decided the black and white looked fine without the additional distraction of stutter effects.
We've got a small Sony monitor that can do 16:9, and can desaturate the image, so we exposed for contrast, which really helped make the black and white image pop. If you haven't got a monitor which can give you a b&w image, and you're shooting that, get one, or a video stabilizer with a color/b&w switch!
Oh, I guess you'll want to see the snaps:
