Survey (blind tes): Blender vs After Effects

Hello, I am a student at the University of Gävle, Sweden. I am writing a paper about chroma keying and compositing and I would appreciate if you would like to take 10 minutes to answer eight questions in total regarding softwares for chroma keying and compositing.

The survey starts with seven questions regarding your relation to different softwares. At the end of the survey you will be asked to study two images, that has been composited with either Adobe After Effects (commercial) or Blender (free), to guess which one is which.

Thank you!

Took the survey but I found my guess at what conclusion you're trying to draw to be confusing. The end result for your simple test was a factor of the person using the tool more than it is which tool was used.

However the time it takes to achieve the desired results IS a large factor in the equation, but it didn't seem to be an element of your survey.

Your question is like asking "Under massively controlled conditions was this medium quality video clip shot on a DSLR, an HD consumer camera, or a RED Epic? There are subjects that can be shot and conditions in which you shoot them where the same final final output (if its degraded) can all appear to be equals. Was that the point of the survey? If it is about Blender's capabilities then I would have expected far more than a single simple composite output to match what has to be done daily in the real world for users of these tools.

The survey is now closed. Thanks to all of you who participated!

Snazzy Flapper: I too realize of course that the end results depend on the person using the tools. The study is about comparing the softwares while using them. The question about end results bring one of many views to the discussion. All answers to this survey will be of great support in my discussion of pros and cons, so thanks for completing it dispite the confusion. :)

A little later than expected, but I have compiled the answers in diagrams (link below) for those who are interested. The correct answer in the blind test (or the image that was produced with Blender) is... (*drum roll*).... image X!

For those who are interested in seeing the images after the fact, here they are:
