Surf footage from the water

Housing has iris control on the 11-16 Duclos/Tokina. I just adjusted it as I normally would if I was shooting on land. Same goes for other commonly used controls.

Very, very nice! What a great housing! The water falls off the port really well! Is it a wide angle port?

I assume you kept the Tokina wide at 11mm?

Is there an LCD monitor in the back of the housing?

What depth is it rated to? Slight negative buoyancy?

All great shots, but I especially love the wave going overhead at :30 and the over/under shot at 2:01. Great music too, what is it?

Great visibility and nice waves breaking both ways!

Do you remember your camera settings? Thanks for sharing!

Hi, thanks for the compliments.
It is a flat port the covers all the way to 11mm.
No LCD although there is a video out bulkhead to run an SD video feed via 15m of cable back to shore, boat etc for non surf shooting.
The music is actually a royalty free track I purchased on one of the various sites.
On the camera settings front I thing I was using the AbelCine flat setup. 1080 50p and 180 shutter.

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks Mark.
So can you use the EVF in the rear? Or is it more of an aim with your arms thing when shooting the waves?
Cheers,
Chuck

With a wide lens and in the close proximity to waves and riders the camera was aimed at arms length. If shooting with a longer lens at a distance from the breaking wave you would use the viewfinder.

My hat's off to you. Brilliant footage, great editing, and great track. You're a talented man.....keep at it.

Was staying just out of Aganoa on Savai'i. Second time there and definitely won't be the last. I purchased most of my accessories from either the US or from Lemac. On the rental front it depends what I'm after. I have a wide range of Nikon glass, if after PL I go to either Lemac or Matched Image.
