Blackflight Studios is gearing up for its 3RD feature film, since our first back in 2009 called "EXIT 101". EXIT 101 (renamed EXIT 101 Halloween Party Massacre) is currently available nationwide via Chemical Burn Entertainment branch, World Wide Multi Media. The Legend of Seven Toe Maggie, our 2nd feature is due out this summer. In keeping with our goal of constantly pushing out new content. We are in preproduction for our latest film called "SUPLEX". The film is a step back from the horror films we've been producing, jumping into the comedy/action realm with this one. The film follows the story of inept phone based IT guy, Joe Valentine who is a professional wrestling fanatic. Joe's friends and family aren't particularly fond of his obsession and one day at work at his dead end job, his obsession costs him his job. Not knowing what to do next, he decides to follow his dreams of becoming a professional wrestler, by starting at the very.... very.... very.... bottom. The film follows his adventure to professional wrestling stardom (not really) with a colorful cast of over 50 characters. The largest cast we've had to date.

The film will be shot late this summer into early 2014 in rural Middle GA. Georgia has a rich history of professional wrestling, having been the home to many of current and former WWE/WCW super stars. I wrote the script, based on my own experiences as a professional wrestler in GA back in my early 20's. The film is a comedy film that I'm calling a Southern Fried "Hangover". I'll be playing the main character, and we will cast all 50 roles from real people as well as actors from around the region. I want the characters to feel "real" and have heart. This is not a documentary or mockumentary but a full blown feature film. We'll be utilizing several independent wrestling promotions in the region, as well as wrestlers and talent from each during the filming.

So far, we've only cast the two lead roles:
Joseph Lavender as "Joe Valentine", Allie Brown as "Maggie Freeman"

Along with that, we'll be bringing in several fromer WWE/WCW/ECW superstars in supporting/cameo roles in the film. We are currently in talks with:

We intend to take the film to festivals as usual, and we have a kickstarter campaign that will go up as soon as it gets approved. We were originally going to shoot this on the Black Magic Cinema Camera (and that still may happen), but we are looking into other options that would make this film looks as good as it possibly can. We are currently trying to attract investors along with the kickstarter campaign. Budget will indicate what we do and on how big of a scale. You can find us on social media below!

oh this should be good! i grew up watching WCW and NWA back in the day, and had a High school friend that wrestled in the local circuit here in west GA!:-)

So I haven't updated this in a WHILE. So I feel the need to do so now in one giant update including screen grabs.

We were originally going to go much bigger with this film, but the budget just hasn't been there amongst other things. However, not to be thwarted I always plan to shoot regardless. I set out to make a movie, and a movie I will make. This is my third feature film, and I'm just about done with the 2nd. I took a step away from horror on this one, and I'm not sure I'm digging it just yet. I miss my horror so much right now.

I decided to make this film SAG at my agents suggestion. I'm not "regretting" that decision right now, but I can't say that I'd ever want to do it again unless the actors I wanted to cast were really someone of note. I have 3 SAG actors, and they are fantastic actors but I'm not sure they are worth the headache of dealing with all this paperwork.

The biggest hurdle for this shoot has been the fact that I'm a lead actor in this one (I was also a lead in my first film, but I technically did not direct it and had a full time DP). I was not able to get that this time because we have such a tight shooting schedule and its just impossible to get someone dedicated who will work for peanuts for this amount of time. We've been shooting 4-5 days straight. My crew has been a major struggle this time because of a few reasons. 1. The general lack thereof. 2. Many of them are busy in other projects 3. Some just don't want to drive anymore 4. Some don't seem to have learned anything over the course of the past few years and continuously have the same problems. I've moved on to a point in my career where I don't feel like an amateur anymore, and in using professional talent and having gone on professional auditions for big tv shows and movies. I just don't like bringing in "professional" people into a non professional atmosphere.

I've been getting the shots, but its been "guerrilla" to say the least. We've had scenes where me and the other lead actor WAS the crew. Boom mic's on a mic stand. Me running sound from my mark, and all that jazz. It's not ideal, but we made it work. We are coming up on some BIG scenes, and logistically they will be impossible to do without a good crew helping me. I'm hoping things pick up as I want to have this one in the can by the new year.

I was originally going to shoot with the Black Magic Cinema Cam, but there just wasn't budget for it. I decided to use my trusty GH2 again because I know it, and I already owned it. I'm still impressed with its capabilities and some of these new hacks are outstanding.

We are on about day 10 or so of shooting. This is my first comedy, and my first time playing a romantic role with a female actress in a film. It's been fun, challenging, and down right frustrating. I seem to have all new problems every single movie, even though I try to learn from the previous film's mistakes. No two movie making experiences seem to be the same. With that, here are some grabs! Thanks for supporting me, and I'm sorry I haven't been around as much.. but that means I'm out making movies. Our indiegogo only has 6 days left so feel free to contribute if you choose..
