Superbowl Commercials

I found the Pepsi campaign to be absurdly bad. What were they thinking and who got paid to come up with that ? Better yet, who gave it the greenlight ? And on another note; what demographic do you think Pepsi is going after with P Diddy as its head ?

Forgetting the demographic, how about Brown and Bubbly? That didn't gear up my taste buds any.

That was cool! What did your wife do for the spot?

She works for the agency, Fallon, She is the Project Manager that handles all of United's advertising.

They are pretty happy with it.

I agree, John. The Pepsi ads were the worst. Not clever. Not funny. Not entertaining. It's like when something un-cool is trying to look cool. And fails miserably. Once again, they should have just given the millions it cost to make those ads and given it to DVXuser to make a movie.

The boardroom monkeys for carrerbuilder was funny. But monkeys are always funny. :)

What I found most interesting was how many of them aired in high-def. For those who don't watch in HD, it's very rare (almost completely nonexistent actually) to see a commercial in HD; normally they just run an up-rezzed standard-def spot. But this year there were a lot that aired in HD; probably half of 'em I'd guess. (of course, most of those were movie trailers and ABC promos for their own shows...)

The pepsi spots were incomprehensibly bad. They had star power, they had big budgets, they had a huge client -- and they were just awful. The fedex caveman spot and the cell phone theft deterrent were my two favorites. The caveman bit because of how it ended (I thought it was really weak in the middle) and the theft deterrent because it was just as delightful but cost maybe 1/1000th as much to make as the caveman spot did!

I agree Barry, it was cool how lots of the commercials aired in HD! That was the first thing I noticed. Hopefully it starts a trend (even though I rarely watch commercials, that's what Tivo is for!)

i really liked the sprint theft deterrant ad and the streaker ad... another fav was the careerbuilder.com commercial where the guy is working with monkeys and calls a woman and she says she works with a bunch of jackasses and there are donkeys in the office... LOL

man i auditted that bud commercial the two cowboys and the sheep streaking darn i didn't know it was going to be the superbowl! well i guess i was too young and good lookin that's why i didn't get it!
