"SUPER STEVE" - Purple Screen Shoot with DVX100A

Hey gang,

So I'm a long time reader, first time poster. Definitely hoping to get more involved with the community here.

Anyway, my future wife and I just shot this goofy little 1 minute video for an online contest. We thought it would be neat to give "green screen" a shot to see if we could do it. Unfortunately we both wear green in the video so we decided to try using a purple piece of fabric. Overall it worked pretty well I guess, far from perfect though, especially in the shots where I wear blue. Here's the link...

SUPER STEVE

If anyone is curious we lit the purple with two Kino Flo Diva Lights. I lit myself and future wife with two diffused 650 Arri Fresnels (one in a Chimera, the other one bounced off a reflector). Oh yeah, and I backlit the hell out of us with an open Arri 30 Fresnel to help separate us from the purple. We were standing about four feet away from the purple screen.

I shot in 4X3 to maximize resolution to help with the keying.

Oh, and I edited with Final Cut Pro and Keyed with the Chroma Key Filter.

If you have any lighting or keying tips please let me know. The reflections in my glasses are a bummer, and sometimes the words on my shirt disappear due to glare.

Anyway, if you have a minute to check it out I'd definitely appreciate it. Only the entries with the highest number of youtube hits will be looked at by the judges.

Take it easy,
Tanner
