super 8

Funny thing....I hadn't taken much notice of super 8, until my video and film club had a "retro night" showing super 8, some from the '60s.
I found the footage subjectivly better than the dv footage I had seen, (Even from a pro DVCAM shoot) not so many sharp jaggies, and the tonality was vastly better.
Now thinking of hunting Ebay.
Oh, yes, I also have an HVX 200, but am yet to shoot HD, as I can't yet afford p2 cards or FS100, but will do when funds (And Avid) permit

another one,if you want to be one of the 0.1 percent with super 8 eyes fine i would sell your hvx 200 if you cant edit or watch hd with it i have no trouble with my much cheaper other make cam that blows super 8,please what are jaggies i thought they were cars, good ebaying.

"Jaggies" are what you see in a digital immage where diagonal lines break up into steps.
As for "super 8 eyes" I was drawing attention to the tonality of film compared to digital which has a shorter tonal range even than colour reversal fil, never mind carefully exposed and developed negative (Either colour or monochrome).
this was especialy evident in some footage of waterfalls, where both the highlights and shadows had detail. I would expect that had the film been shot on negative, the tonal range would be even better.
But in the end, it's down to personal taste, about which dispute is futile.

i have not noticed these jaggies, there are hundreds of downloads of hdv stuff but it may be worth looking at www.sonyhdinfo.com fx samples page then fx sample clips 24 minute holliday film i have only just found it myself.i agree with you its all about personal taste and if some prefer super 8 good luck to them as long as they do not rubbish stuff like the above,it took an hour for me to download.all the very best whatever you use.
