Anyone know where I can get a super 8mm camera that works...or does anyone have one they are selling?

I picked up a cannon XL814 off of craiglist for 75$... Everything works great. I would try there and ebay. Probably not what you wanted to here.... www.pro8mm.com this website sells rebuilt S8 cams, but they are a little pricey... Good luck in your search.

would film off that site work for any super 8mm camera? actually for that matter what would be the right film to buy?

Pro8mm is a bit on the pricey side, but their gear and stock is (IMO) first-rate. I'd also check Yale Film & Video for stock as well.

I have 3 beaulieu 6008s they came mint in their box. www.super-8-camera-shop.com I recall is the website, I just deal with the guy straight away his name is uhmeyer, very good history with him. If you're interested in one of the beaulieu's we could talk but shipping will be an issuea s I'm in lebanon. Also would charge more for mine, I say go with uhmeyer he's great.

the 6008 is a fantastic crystal sync interchangeable lens job. 80 fps tops, can sync 24/25fps. auto and manual everything.

Well, all of the film stock currently available will "Work" in most of the cameras that you can find. HOWEVER, the auto exposure control systems in S8 cameras is designed to read ASA (ISO) information from the cartridge, which is cut into a slot in the from of the cartridge. Not all cameras are set up to accept some of the ASA (ISO)s that are available in many of the modern film stocks. For example, the current Kodak color reversal film, a 64 ASA (ISO) tungsten stock, is not compatible with all cameras. It is my understanding that non-compatable cameras will tend to set the exposure for the previously available 40 ASA (ISO) Kodachrome stock and may lead to over exposure of the 64 stock. You may want to make sure that you get a Super 8 camera with manual control of the iris, and set you exposure manually.

I have a Beaulieu 6008Pro in Beirut I've been dying to sell for ages. I get back on the 15th. If you can wait that long I'll give it to you for whatever you want to pay. I'm late on rent, been shooting, so had to take some time off from the bar. Need the money.

80fps max, crystal sync, interchangeable lenses also accommodates a larger mag for rolls (if you can find those).

It's a sweet, sweet camera, it will hurt to let it go, but I see a 16mm cam in my future to make up for it. Think I'll go digital for a while if you pick it up.

Let me know. Really could use the dough.
