GH3 Sunset tests with GH3

Beautiful sunset tonight - decided to shoot some test shots and see how the GH3 would preform. 12-35, 45-200. Some ETC shots. A little CC here and there. Shot Standard -2 contrast, 0 sharpness, 0 color. Cloudy day WB, then shade WB towards the end. LOVE how the sky looks - no banding like my GH2s always have. You can download the 1080p version on Vimeo. Compression softened the original and some macro blocking from it as well.

Footage looks great, also I think you just sold me on that Panasonic Lens (45-200mm) I could use the extra reach on certain shots + it has image stabilization, that's great. Not worried about the slower aperture as this would be used for daytime shoots, where I usually shoot around f/4-5.6 anyways.

Also I agree with P13, would love to see some Time lapse footage.

Great footage. Were you afraid to shoot directly into the sunlight? I get concerned about the lens/sensor. Did you use a ND filter?

Lindquist - Sweet, where? I grew up in Mesa Verde Bird streets.

Ianscreations - I am concerned about that as well mainly for time lapse. I didn't use a filter for the 45-200 shots, F/11-13 looking into the sun. I think mid-day sun would be more of a issue. You can stare into a sunset with your eyes and that doesn't seem to be a concern for most people. For short video clips, I don't think it would be a problem. I have seen footage of damaged GoPro cameras from sun exposure. I might stick with a Mirrored Camera for time lapse sun shots.

Harbor and Adams, so much new construction now tho! haha that 7-11 is gone, but ya Coral Ave by tewinkle school and cemetary. lol
