Hey guys,

here is my first experiment with the interval recording function in a timelapse. I started with the 30 second interval, then as the sun had risen, switched to the 10 second interval which yeilded smoother results. I will try this again soon, in the meantime enjoy. I used VAR wb started at 4000, then 5200, then 5600 - 6300 in between frames, also started at ND 1, and gradually increased to ND 3 watching the WFM to maintain exposure of the water/sky, letting the sun blow out after it had risen. Was also in DRS 1 and cineV gama. ISO 400. Tokina 11-16 f2.8 with novoflex nikon mount. Vinten vision 11 sticks. and I made the beat in soundtrack pro.

let me know what you think.

@cinescott :)

I thought thta was quite nice. Probably could have lowered the exposure a little on the sun in the higher sky, but that's just being picky. Makes me want to attempt a time lapse shot. Never done one before. Hope it's simple!

thanks papa

thanks papa

shooting a timelapse requires patience, and a folding chair! I just let the exposure creep the entire morning. I used the reference tool in the bottom right corner of the screen and adjusted by the ticks on the meter down there, maintaining 1, then 2, then 3 etc. as the sun came out, watching the wfm the whole time. I had my zebras set to 100. yes the sun was a little hot, but I think it works for this, everything else is exposed properly. I tried a lower exposure, but lost detail everywhere else. This wasn't supposed to look like a "silhouette" effect had I stopped down a bunch more. maybe a pola or a set of ND grads would have helped. Thanks for the compliment!

I like your work too man, very creative with the princess party.

Hey Scott, greetings from The Grove!

Great first TL, nicely done! Pola would definitely help.

I find exposure on sunrise/set a real b!tch! I've tried the incremental changes also, but get annoyed by the flicker as it changes, even when I use the WFM and zebras.

I have a downtown TL I'm uploading soon, twilight into night without the direct sun, so I just set iris and let it roll.

Great weather/shot for your first! :thumbup:
