sun glare

I'm just curious as to what filter I should purchase to eliminate sun glare.

To eliminate glare, you need a good lens shade or matte box with flags.  You can also use separate flags to shield the lens from stray light.  Glare (aka flare) occurs when the rays from the light source (sun, fresnels, etc) strike the surface of the camera lens.  Block those rays and you eliminate the glare.  

If you're talking about glare from reflections in metal, glass, or water--a polarizer can reduce or eliminate the reflections.
