Suggestions on mounting 2 wireless Sennheiser receivers to AF100

Hey all,

Recently, I've been using both of my wireless Sennheiser mics on shoots and would like to find a better way to attach the receivers to my AF100 without using velcro, a plate that extends from the threads of under the camera or a shoe mount..

I am looking to find, or make an attachment mount bracket/plate that connects to either my 15mm rails, or to a 1/4" magic arm and was wondering if any of you had suggestions on how to make this and look professional at the same time or if this exists already to purchase?

If it doesn't exist, I'm guessing the best way to make this is to find some sort of thin metal plate that has a female 1/4" thread and then attach that to the magic arm.

This is the route I do not want to take: http://www.bracket1.com/brackets.php

There are some other options on this page, but they are either too expensive for what I need it for (above $50 with shipping), or they don't show clearly if they have 1/4" mounting threads: http://www.bracket1.com/adapters.php

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Will

Simple flat Aluminum bar stock, a hacksaw, and one of these:

I have two of these (or similar product from a different manufacturer):

I moved the side handle forward (using aforementioned AL bar stock), freeing the handle side cold shoe, and mount 1-2 wireless receivers onto this.

Another option multiplying shoes:

He custom-fabbed a twin mount that I used to replace my (missing) mic holder, and it's worked spiffily.

Like this?

When I had my AF100 I did just like Erik suggested. I never used that handgrip so I didn't loose any functionality.

I recommend the J-Rod Cube. mcbob posted the link to the website above. It's a simple and very solid solution, maybe a little bit pricier than others but really useful.

I'll third the J-Rod Cube. BUT, it's a shoe mount device, which you said you didn't want. Should you reconsider, I would highly recommend it.

Yes, Paul F, that would be perfect. I actually own the rail block extension piece with the 1/4" threads to connect a magic arm. What piece are you using to connect the lavs and how is it connected to the magic arm?

Thanks for all the other replies! Appreciate it!

Bunt,

It is bare brushed aluminum with a 1/4-20 hole. $18.50 plus shipping. I don't know how much it would be to powder coat or anodize it, but I can get a price.

PM me if interested.

Why not just clip them to the handgrip strap? The G3 receivers come with belt clips and I've done something similar in the past with my HMC150.

Paul F, the pictures you provided are appreciated, as well as all the other posts!

I have enough suggestions from here to make it work, thanks again!

Yes, it's pretty simple. A piece of aluminum, a drill, and a tap as McBob suggested. Make sure the aluminum is thick enough to hold the threads. I used 16 gauge. To make it more secure, you can weld a bit of bar stock over the hole location. Drill a bunch of holes in it to make it lighter.
