I will bet I am not the only one here like this!

I came to the GHs from video cameras. When we shot we did use some zoom for effects and was hoping that would continue to be the case with DSLRs. After last weekend using the 14-140 I can see that's a dream that ain't gonna happen this week! Focus just isn't going to keep up with the zoom, while zooming, and I can deal with that.
But having used zoom lens cams for years, I got very comfortable using them to bring the subject to me, not the other way around as you have when you shoot with the primes. There are also lots of times when "snuggling" up with the subject to get some good close footage with a 20mm just isn't going to be possible.
So, am asking for suggestions of old glass of the "zoom" variety that would work nicely for the GHs for video ??? I've been loking around but most I am seeing are so slow. I'm not expecting rocket fast, but something faster than f-Bazillion would be nice.
Have experiences, please let me and the rest of us like me, know please !!!
