Suggest a Scene File Setting for this..please.

.I have got a run and gun shoot in a fast food restaurant tomorrow.

Will use the AF102 - 1080 / 50p ( client requested 50p)

I recced and shot a "lighting test" with the GH2 so that I knew what sources and levels I was going to confront.

Restaurant is the usual "fruit salad" of light sources and color temps...but I can deal with that.

What I would like to do is deal with the contrast (gammas). Normally I would light them.

Kind of looking for that flatter look but with plenty of chroma. ( Think McDonalds, KFC, Burger King ...in store shots)

We are going to test the (1080 50p) camera back at my studio today and I thought I would ask you people for some Scene File Setting suggestions we can also test.

Give this a try:

Gamma: HD Norm (or BPress for a bit more snap)
Detail: -4
V Detail: -4
Chroma +2
Matrix: Norm 1
DRS: Off
Coring: 0
M.Ped: -2 or -1

Everything else is 0. Almost forgot....Knee at MID

Try;

Film Cam

800 ISO

Detail -2
V Detail -2
Coring -7
Chroma Level 0
Chroma Phase 0
Master Ped +5
Gamma Cine-Like V
Matrix Cine-Like

Sharpness settings to mimic the GH2 (adjust to taste) I guess you might want the image a little softer for food. Cine-Like V gives lots of contrast and fairly low noise and the Cine Matrix gives nice rich colour, I upped the pedestal to lighten it a tad.

Shamefully I have no fruit here to test it with.

Hope that helps

Thanx guys. Will take a look.

BTW - Its not a food shoot. Its a people thing (including vox pop , run and gun interviews)

...and ..not trying to match the GH2. ( Just used that as an exposure, levels and color temp meter)

I guess you couldn't take the AF to the restaurant for a test?

Good luck with your lighting dish... ("I'll just have a light salad")....

Was not possible to take the AF to the restaurant. Brand new and opening on the day of the shoot ( today actually)

The recce was time llimited so the GH2 was valuable.

Shoot went very well and we used a custom setting.

Basically we just went away from the Cine Gammas so that we could use maual KNEE Settings. We tweaked a couple of Color Temp presets and we dropped chroma setting.

Main reason was ...much of the shoot was using the lighting in the store ( international burger chain) ...and that tends to come from a mix of top lights. Mini halogen down lights (fruit salad) as well as light from display signs and boxes on walls and bounce from a few spots.

Interview / vox pops were lit but store still features in BG and those top lights are hard to avoid.

The spectral top lights tend to highlight stuff more than one would want so some control of this is required on the AF100.

Nothing that flash but turned out fine.

Thanks for following up with what worked for you. Is this something that you'll be able to post when it's in the can?
