What can I say, I only recently started watching Succession - and I’m surprised nobody started a thread on this show here on dvxuser.
This show is excellent! Very strong performances from almost all actors. Good writing, and especially the exceptional dialogue. Camera work quite good, even the handheld was OK.
There’s always a question of whether a show can maintain quality through seasons. Not many do so consistently (The Wire, Breaking Bad, Ozark etc.), and most drop off the cliff - Ted Lasso, only one season, after that, it’s an atrocity - but Succession has managed to do so quite well. That said, I’m very sad that the last episode I saw S3E8 was very weak, and I can see this failing very rapidly, we’ll have to see… it’s turning into a soap opera of repetitious dynamics and situations we’re getting bored with - there doesn’t seem a logical evolution where things are moving into another level… instead, they’ve created their little playground and that’s where they’re staying.
I sincerely hope they can pull it off, because up until the last episode, it was all very strong. YMMV.
