Subtitling.

Is language subtitling possible with the Vegas 4.0? For example, someone speaking in a foreign language then adding english subtitles?

thanks!

Re: Subtitling.

Sure, you could always use Vegas' titling plugin to add text on top of the video if that's what you want. For DVD productions, subtitles are idealy separate text files (not 'burnt' into the image), so as to allow switching on/off or changing the subtitle language.

Re: Subtitling.

DVD Architect doesn't support subtitling. For that, you need to step up a level in your DVD authoring program.

Not to say DVDA isn't a powerful app -- it just doesn't have some of the pro-level features such as subtitling, multiple angles, etc . . .

Re: Subtitling.

If you have a lot to subtitle, it may be a simpler solution to use a program dedicated to creating subtitles such as Sub Station Alpha, and use a program like Virtualdub to burn the subtitles on the video image. Using a program like this, you basically input your subtitles with their respective 'in' and 'out' points, and the subtitling plugin in Virtualdub does the rest!

I believe that it also may be possible to do this directly in Vegas using Satish's pluginpac (Debugmode.com), which allows the use of Virtualdub filters within Vegas.
Pretty awsome IMO :)
