I wasn't sure where the best place to put this question was, so if there is another place that is better suited, please direct me there and I'll restart this topic.
I work at a church and every week we make a DVD and digital file (for streaming) of our services. One of the digital files we make is caption for the hearing impaired. Getting captions into this file is a giant mess of a process. After someone types the captions the program we use exports a txt document that we then pair up with the video in Encore. Then we burn a DVD from encore with the subtitles embedded as a secondary track (after spending time manually lining up the txt document with the audio of the video). Then we can take that dvd and handbrake it with embedded captions to upload to our server.
There has to be a better way right? Does anyone know of a work with captions and subtitles in Premiere? How are other people approaching this issue? Thanks!
