I'n my current workflow, I've been copying my P2 cards into a directory on my media drives and preserving the P2 File structure. I then use the subst command to make a virtual drive, which Avid picks up as a P2 card, and I then use Media Tool to import the files into my project. I'm doing this because its easier to keep the files organized, and because with the P2 Contents Manager software, I can pick which clips I want from my cards, and have them copies automatically into the folder I want, without having to create a bunch of folders, or fish thru the audio and video files for the clips I need.
So anyway, this has been working great for me, and a friend of mine wants to use the same workflow. His system is Xpress Pro 5.2.4, and mine is 5.2.7. He has no problems copying the clips with the P2 Content Manager software or creating the virtual drive. The problem comes when he goes to grab the clips with Media Tool. The virtual drive shows up fine, but when he selects the drive, checks the master clip box, selects his project, and hits "OK", no clips are found.
The clips were shot in 480/60i in DVCPRO 50 resolution. His project is using regular 30i SD settings...
Is this a Xpress Pro version difference issue, or are we doing something else wrong?? His system sees the clips fine if he uses Media Tool to look straight on the cards, but it doesn't see anything when he tries the Virtual drives.
Thanks!
Andy
