I love Barry Lyndon. I think the biggest problem is that the lead actor was not very convincing or dynamic. Which I blame on Kubrick because I dont think he was a great director of actors.
One of the interesting things about Blade Runner is how Ridley Scott re-colored it for the Final Cut version in 2007 after he got it in a DI. Usually I feel like people make movies worse when they overwork them (ahem, George Lucas) but I think Ridley did nice things here:
