We shot this in NYC in the SVA studio. It had a nice G/E package, grid, power, etc. I've never used so many 2k's on any shoot. This was my first time using the Nikon 80-200mm, just got the lense support. I've also never wished we had a 5k so badly.

We had a great Gaffer and Best Boy Electric. We had a good time figuring out different lighting setups. This is all one location.

Well done I'd sworn it was a video on tv...
Where in NY are you?

did seem out of synch... but plenty of ho's to go around. This reggaeton stuff is the biggest culprit of objectification of women... Not that I'm against it, but man it's just so overt...

Hey,

I cut these highlight reels and I don't sync the lyrics, its just a DP reel. I can't say that I mind the talent that dance videos bring to set. Its better than a rapper and 30 of his entourage, heh.

cine: Thanks. The director is working under LittleX and he is very found of having color themes for each section of the song. It makes more sense in the real music video. All of the color schemes are done with gels, the walls are white.

Tim: Were you in a hurry when you typed that, hah? Just keep shooting hip hop videos and the bigger they get the more girls will come.

dante: I'm in Rochester, NY but I travel to where ever the work is. I'm in NYC at least twice a month. I'm moving to the city this summer.

Justyn: One of the main reasons movies and the film industry were created was so men could look at beautiful women. Don't believe me, do some research. :crybaby: I've worked on some sleazy music videos and this one was very respectful. All of the girls who came out were very talented dancers, even the extras.

I don't see anything wrong with beautiful girls dancing in a dance video. There was breakdancer too but he didn't make the reel

Cheers,

Matt

is it me or do the production stills look cooler than the video?. just kidding lol, great video

cine: The director is interning for Sun God I believe. I think they are connected but not the same as HSI.

danny: ... Yeah she always takes better pictures. The 5D with L Lenses is hard to compete with. That is like shooting 35mm with a 4K uncompressed transfer, compared to our 1/3" chip and 4:2:2 DVCPROHD. On top of that she was shooting at 1600ISO and we were shooting at 80ISO. We are also locked at 1/48 and she can vary hers. Plus she is a good photographer and we are just hacks, jk.

Someday we'll be on the same page quality wise :Drogar-Evil(DBG):

Cheers,

Matt

Believe me.. I have a very sound film history background.. and that's not exactly how the film industry was developed. It was about consumerism.. and showcasing the new American Dream... which coincidentally was produced by Eastern European Jewish Immigrants. Quite a strang occurance there. It also started here in Florida.. In Jacksonville, but the provincial people thought that it was immoral and would lead to a sinful place.. and that's why it moved to California as the land was scenic, diverse and also cheap. Wonder if this showcasing of objectified women has lead to a sinful place and industry. Ahhh yes, I've visited LA.. not exactly the land of morality. So, does this past your quick for film history or am I missing something? Don't think these guys were doing dance parties back then... It was more of a transition from the Theater and had to take on it's own aesthetics over the ages..

Now.. I'm not a prude, love the ladies as well but just saying that you can rationale the overt objectivism(sp) all you want but it is what it is.. Sure sex sells ... that's gonan be my next shoot so stay tuned.

Hey Justyn,

My film history comment was more targeted towards the general knee-jerk reaction to viewing women in media as exploitive. I could tell by your last post that you were grounded, I thought I'd just through some content into the response, heh.

Understanding how film/theater/literature/etc. have come to be really opens ones eyes to where we are right now.

Looking forward to seeing your next project, .

Cheers,

Matt

Thanks esco... I appreciate that. I took your comment the wrong way as well! A lot of people forget that we are peers with equal or more.. or less knowledge and experience. I had to take all of those courses in film school.. for good or bad, but I believe that we do have to know our industry.. where its come and where it's going.

Now for my next project I have to find the right actress. It'll be sexy and yet funny but I really have a hardtime doing the negotiations and explaining to them that it's not something porno and all that. Besides.. have to make sure the wifey don't get too mad. I really am stoked though as I've never seen anything like what I'm trying to do.. .but we'll see

Thanks for understanding.. and looking forward to seeing what else you come up with...

It was poor russian imigrant jews that started hollywood. Lew Wasserman was the man. This great film tells it all

The Last Mogul: The Life and Times of Lew Wasserman

I might have to watch that. It is ironic that they created the american dream... but in actuallity, that is the dream. I'm an immigrant filmmaker her in the States. Moved from a small town in the UK when I was 10. American films were my third favorite vice as a kid. Muppets were number 1.. and kungfu films were number two

sorry it took me so long, I AM IN LOS ANGELES, by way of Ghana, did a little schooling in london, lived in Brixton. You know Florida is where most indie movies are made lately.
