Stupid Zebra Question

Not to mean that Zebras are stupid, but I'm just now going over the camera whilst reading Barry's fine book. Question is how to tell Zebra1 from Zebra2. In the foggy past ( I'm a film guy ) I worked
with a camera that had the same feature....two Zebras one could preset to differing levels. One set of stripes went one direction and the other another. Only had the camera for a single day but this is
driving me striped. Sorry, stupid. Not a huge deal as I've got the waveform monitor. Thanks.

The stripes for Zebra 1 run upper-right to lower-left, and Zebra 2 draws its lines from upper-left to lower-right. Page 163 of Barry's book.

The feature you're describing is at times much better than needing to push a button to switch between zebras. Just got the Zacuto EVF and it has the double zebras displayed at the same time (like you're talking about). Kind of threw me at first, but is a feature I'm really liking now. You can choose to view them both or disable either one and, of course, they're adjustable.

The Zacuto also has pixel zoom which I had sorely missed from the GHs. Tried my best to use and like the AF100's FA (even with the EVF color off) but there were some low contrast situations where it simply didn't cut it for me. And shining a flashlight, etc. (when possible) was a hassle.

Another thing the Zacuto has is adjustable peaking so you can set the amount to your liking. That coupled with the pixel to pixel has allowed me to easily and confidently nail focus in every situation I've come across so far.

Using the Zacuto EVF, I can keep the AF100 waveform displayed on the LCD all the time. So I have a quick exposure reference on the Zacuto with the zebras and access to more detailed info on the LCD with the waveform.

Really can't say enough about the Zacuto EVF. They nailed it with this one. It was set up perfectly right out of the box. Didn't need to change a thing - including the buttons they had set as defaults.

One word of caution when using the Zacuto EVF with a Z-Finder outdoors is you need to be EXTREMELY diligent to immediately cover it as soon as you take your eye off the eyepiece. Otherwise, you risk ruining the screen if the sun gets magnified through the eyepiece. I learned this the hard way a long time ago on my GH1 before Zacuto came out with a warning and subsequent eyepiece cover.

Found it. Didn't realize the Zebra buttton scrolled. Thank for the review of the Zacuto EVF...will take a look once I'm more comfortable with the camera.

Didn't really intend to comment about the Zacuto beyond the zebra feature - got a little carried away once I got started. :)
