Student Discount?

Hello,

I'm a computer science graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and I'm involved in a research project that is developing a method for correcting underexposed video without image degradation on real-time multiprocessor machines, and we'd like to use our algorithms in conjunction with a non-scientific camera. The HVX200 seems like the best camera for this (inter-frame compression screws with the algorithm and it'd be real nice to have access to HD).

Anyways, I was wondering if anybody knew if Panasonic offers a student discount since I have a limited supply budget?

I know I'll burn in hell for being a smart ass but, keep dreaming. Even when hardware manufacturers give educational discounts that are not that generous.

I'm working on digital film restoration development and am interested in any image processing development like this, care to share?

If you can afford it, buy it. If not, go thru the usual corporate research grant gyrations, and maybe you can even get Panny to pay you for the research work you are doing, as well as provide you with multiple cameras, proprietary software code info, etc....

Hmmm, I've looked into hardware student discounts and Chuck is right, you'd only get a markoff of $200-300 at most. Not a whole lot of savings at all. But as far as I know, there are no videocamera educational discounts. There are regular discounts, like the DVX100A $500 rebate, but that's about it.
