EDIT: Thanks for your help those who replied, I got on set and looked at the camera this morning and it was fine, the director was just having a bit of a freak out and on his test shots he was panning way too fast. Cheers!

Hey guys,

I've just learned that a camera we're shooting on in a few days is apparently having some problems with strobing. It has been tested on both 720p @ 25 frames and 1080p @ 25 frames and the result ends up strobing, not just upon playback after capture but also real-time on the HVX preview monitor.

Any ideas what might be causing this? I suggested that the shutter speed settings may not have been set correctly, but supposedly they were. Has anyone ever experienced this and/or does anyone have any suggestions to fix it?

Cheers!

Sounds like the panning "problem" of progressive shooting. I guess that you have only the strobing while panning right? It disapers if you put it on a locked of tripod. You "just" have to pan ridicolus slow or follow an moving object (cause the objekt will be kind of stationary when you follow it.)

Eljonino, thanks for your response. I haven't had my hands on the camera yet to check out the problem for myself, but as far as I'm aware it's not the usual panning issue.

As a general rule for shooting I know about panning and how fast/slow to go to avoid strobing, but supposedly this problem extends beyond the panning and even just normal movement is giving the strobe effect.
