FEATURE: Stricken the Feature - A Matt Sconce Film

Thanks for the ideas guys. I will play with the font size on the roll. Huy, I am cool with the effect repeating for each name and think it would definitely need to be changed up if it kept going with more credits. Thanks for the comments! Now back to playing with the AE project. -Matt

Well I was up until 4 am this morning trying to get a render to blu-ray format. Crashes and other issues impeded my progress and I ended up sleeping on a chair and setting my alarm to wake me up each half an hour to see the progress. Finally the render began and when I woke up this morning I had a blu-ray file to put on disc. Now I am just waiting for the blu-ray disk to render and then I am off to Fresno to meet up with Shane Foster and Troy Ruff and test the blu-ray on Shane's HD projector projected onto my dad's 7 foot screen.

I have a five hour energy thingie in my system and I am ready to rock! -Matt

5 hour energy rocks! :) Seriously... love em'! Good luck with the showing, hope you're there! (as in finished!)
Thanks! Yep, I call those "Liquid Sleep" because instead of the jittery feeling most energy drinks give you, you actually feel like you slept.

We just got back from watching Stricken from an HD projector projected onto a pretty big screen. Shane, Troy, My dad Gary, and I watched it in its entirety for the 6th VFX pass. It looked DARN good and I was very pleased! Here are some shots from the night.

I stand in front of the Stricken title screen excited about the night

Next, I watch the Blu-ray back once more on my 50 inch and see if the VFX fixes that worked on the projector work on the TV. After that, I will test it on a couple more tv's but we should have a VFX lock.

Say, that actor on screen looks Fine!

I was so happy with the appearance of the film on the big screen. We had a lot of fun watching it, again with no sound, and seeing that, really, there was nothing left to change.

What a great feeling after all this work. Kudos to Matt for the hard work he has done (14-16 hours a day) on the VFX, CC and editing. The love of what he does and his skill showed in the film from the start to the end of the credits.

Distributors: Get ready for STRICKEN. This product will be HIGHLY profitable. With a properly executed marketing campaign, STRICKEN will really do well...

Also, it is not just a single film but a potential franchise.

Matt, Gary and all the Stricken folks...I feel your excitement...That's great.

We're not far behind, no VFX work on ours but we've got plenty of challenges in terms of Music and Sound Mixing to make our Hip-Hop Flick pop off correctly but we're feeling great about our progress too.

So Congratulations on your journey, much success in the quest for Distribution...we're gearing up for that "Battle" too :)

-M

It's so weird. I think I'm honestly more excited to see Stricken than I was to see Avatar. Can't wait guys!

AWESOME! Me too!

Sooo....UPDATE.......

After over 10 months of Post production...Stricken VFX and visuals are LOCKED!!!! VFX are done!!!!! Wooooohooooooo!:2vrolijk_08::cheesy::2vrolijk_08:

Matt just texted me and... (drum roll please)...

all VFX is now LOCKED!!! :2vrolijk_08:

Now we will just have to add the whole finished package together and mix the sound and score... and

We will have a complete feature film!

We are going to have a STRICKEN PARTY this weekend and the family will all eat pizza and watch the visually finished film on my huge reflective screen in HD. Wah Hooooooo! (I'm thinking ice cream too!) :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Oh man...that sounds fun (especially ice cream). I will be there for sure...oh wait...I'm still working on Stricken! Guess I can't party yet. Tell you what, eat some pizza and ice cream for me and I will finish up these last two cues in Reel 2.

Hey, hurry up will ya! (JK) Seriously, it won't be a true movie until your magnificent score is added. Can't wait.

We held off on the party to wait for you... Also... because we didn't have the right projector to plug into the bluray... :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

We ate ice cream anyway and watched Blind Side.

Matt and I have to find a place big enough for all of us to watch the film and party. :2vrolijk_08::2vrolijk_08::2vrolijk_08:

My goodness! I can't stop watching the trailer 'taste'. Very exciting... Good job as usual Matt. :engel017:

So close... So close...

Matt has thrown all the reels into an Aftereffects project and now can just add the completed sound/score after the mix... Then, we burn blurays for a complete end of all post production.

No more sync marks no mo. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) Whoot!

Say, everyone who wants to be part of the 'CREW" of STRICKEN get your STRICKEN CREW shirt here.

They are COOL!

Also the coffee cups with Stephanie French as Sarah Black pushing on the breaking mirror will be the shot used for the bluray disk play screen.

(Just some insider info for our DVXuser family.) :D

It is very strange... I am in the Editing Chamber of Glory at the second editing station... and 'TERMINATOR II' (The Aftershock Studios LLC editing 'super'computer) is (*gasp*) NOT RUNNING!. It is turned off.

It is taking a long deserved rest after literally months of running editing and rendering non-stop.

Matt and his beautiful and talented bride Heather are out on the town celebrating their 7th wedding anniversary. They so deserve it.

I actually pulled out my 1950 Chevy sedan from mothballs today and am getting set to restore and modify it with a modern front end and a rebuilt engine. It is strange having all this time...

Heck, we already have the next feature script THE PARK finalized too. I am nibbling at a future thriller NODES a little bit at a time...

...Extra time... hmmmm... Very strange... :2vrolijk_08:
