FEATURE: Stricken the Feature - A Matt Sconce Film

Wow. Nice drive. Seems like an accellerated pace for what seems to be a lot of effects.

-M

The locked cut will not have the effects completed. The effect greenscreen (Pre-keyed) shots will be in the locked sequence timed correctly and just need to be completed. It will not change their timing. At least...that is my goal. The finished cut is late December or early January with everything ready to be sold.

When Matt got "The Terminator" computer for editing... I got the old one! It is so cool, and came with the whole editing suite!

Happy, happy, happy!

FLASH! Tomorrow night Matt and I will watch the entire rough cut with unfinished special effects shots in the proper places for the first time. Whoo Hoooooo!

We will note for additions, pacing, transition shots and make plans to shoot, cut and tweak until there is nothing left to do and we are completely satisfied.

We will not settle for anything less than complete excellence. :engel017:

I watched the complete rough cut through tonight with Director Matt Sconce. As this was the rough cut, I was prepared to see some lack of pacing, timing and to give suggestions.

I was pleased and excited to see a film that had talented acting, directing and a really good pacing already. When the movie ended I just leaned back in my chair and smiled. It had style, interest and the characters were so round they pulled me into caring deeply about them. As the Executive Producer I can say, that without a doubt, this will be a profitable film.

David Fine and Stephanie French were superb in the lead roles, and worked extremely well together. Supporting actors stepped up and drew me in. The film has well timed excitement, and the ending smacked me right between the eyes. The length was perfect at around 1 hour and 42 minutes without some transition shots and credits. Wow.

I can hardly wait for special effects, final sound and the screenplay to be added. This little film will raise some serious interest in the distribution industry.

You all need to see this picture. (Congratulations Matt!)

LOL, the movie is finished but he screenplay has not been added yet?

Matt I just saw the trailer and thought it was good. Especially the last bit, some great horror imagery and gags

BTW did you know you can do this now:

Thanks Jack! I think he meant Score. That link is great. I didn't know we could do that!

We made the teaser trailer after about 2-3 weeks of filming just to get something out there. We have 5 more months of footage now and will make an official trailer after we finish post.

Congrats on all your success as well!

I am currently using VUE 7 Infinite to create a dream world from a nightmare in Stricken. With my crazy fast system, the 181 frames from the start of the dream have been rendering for about 24 hours with 22 to go. Whew!

Just thought I should give a little more detail. The length of the render is due to the ground being made from reflective pebbles with subsurface scattering. All that = ridiculous long renders. :kali:

Jack Daniel Stanley "LOL, the movie is finished but he screenplay has not been added yet?"

Dang... I say the wrong thing all the time. It is frustrating. I did mean score. This has gotten worse as I get older...

Oh well.

Film is looking fantastic and I cannot wait to see the updated trailer Matt...your thread has been a great source of learning and personal experience, I thank you.
Is there anywhere to see your original short film that started this whole process?

In 2006 my first serious film was made for dvxuser's Horrorfest. I named it Stricken. It is where everything began.

The feature is much different than the short, and I have become a much better filmmaker since this film, but everyone needs a beginning. There are GREAT memories attached to it.:cheesy:

6 hours left on my render!

Reminds me of what Hitchcock once said:

"Once the script has been written, and the dialog added..."

He wasn't joking though. It was cited (somewhere, I forget where) as an illustration of how Hitch put storytelling above dialog writing.

Sweet! My render finished. Time to experiment with some keying and see if the rendered file is what I wanted. I already see a potential issue, but I do not want to do another 2 day render. I think I will change some settings and see if that speeds things up.

Here are some tests of the scene from VUE 7 plus Stephanie. I am still working some blending and color matching issues out. The VUE render will need some tweaking and re-rendering, but all in all it will work out well.
