Hi Matt,

I believe you will get excellent results and achieve what you have in mind. You are very systematic and this is what gets projects finished, good luck will only make it easier. Any info on the project is valuable to the forum.

Thank you so much! I will try to make this the best it can be!

So the first night of shooting was delayed by 3 1/2 hours due to a crane problem on the exterior shot. Much of this needed to be filmed linearly so we had a problem. 3 hours later we scrapped the footage and moved to the next setup planning to shoot that shot the following night. Because of the 3 hour delay, all of our other scenes pushed ahead 3 hours letting us work until 7 am Saturday and 6 am Sunday. All of us are zombies at the moment. I have not been so tired in a looooong time......but.....it was worth it!

We ended up getting the crane shot and all the shots we needed with David Fine in them for this month. I was very pleased with the Brevis and crispness of the HVX footage. (I also got great sound thanks to Sound for film and television)

That was the first weekend! Only about 10 to go. :) -Matt

Congrats Matt! Keep hammering...I'm sure this is going to be a good one. Nice looking grabs.

I'm sure you'll enjoy your time with David. When I worked with him I found him to be a great talent, and a valuable person to have on set. He had a quick mind for ideas to work around problems and made great suggestions for ways to improve the scene/dialog/whatever. But at the same time he always deferred to me, as the director, for the final decision without complaint and without diminishing his performance.

And yes, he has a great sense of humor that really helped our less experienced actors relax into their roles.

Hey Matt, looking good so far! Just wanted to let you know that your imdb links in the first post are imdb pro links, so they didn't work for me. I was able to find your film on imdb by searching though.

Looking really good Matt! Break a leg!

Thanks! We had a great shoot! Here are some more uncorrected grabs. I am quite pleased with the first weekends footage. The next shoot days are this upcoming Friday and Saturday.

Nice. Can we get some BTS stills of those shock lights in action?

I'll have to see if we have any I could post.

A side note- I am SO excited to shoot this weekend. This is a long hard journey and will be for 4 months, but there is nothing like seeing your story become real. Amazing stuff, and worth the 2 years of worry, tears, disappointments, and preparation.

Hey Matt,

Congrats on commencing principal. Way jealous! But right behind you.

I didn't see it mentioned: who's DPing for you? What adapter and camera?

Thanks Kholi! I wish you the best when you jump into principle as well.

I am Dping as well as directing and forcing myself to not only watch the picture quality, but the acting as well. I learned a ton from the book "Directing Actors" by Judith Weston and feel much more comfortable in that department now.

I am shooting on an HVX200 with a Brevis Mp.2 Adapter and Nikon Primes.

Matt, I can loan you my boompole for the duration of the shoot if you'd like, it's a Gitzo carbon fiber model that goes to around 9 ft. I'm a big fan of the original Stricken and I would be glad to help out in anyway I can if you have needs of my gear or any else, just let me know.

Thanks Huy! I was the sound pole guy for the first weekend and your amazingly light pole was a blessing.

From my perspective the first weekend went very smooth. Fun! Everyone was working so hard. It was nice to be a part. :D

Matt,

The stills are looking great! And I agree, that book is excellent. :)

Can't wait to see more!
