FEATURE: Stricken the Feature - A Matt Sconce Film

I was a Deputy Sheriff and know police stations well. Actually the room has 10' ceilings so the 8' walls have 2' of lighting room overhead. Ironically, my set is better than anything my Sheriff's Department had. Our professional and hard working Sheriff and deputies had a very small budget and did miracles with their money. :kali:

I will also use the set pieces for my class science movie productions. They are very excited to make their movies. :) I am hearing distant whispers of zombies...

Ahhhhhh... 4 hours of sleep in three days... Good shots though! :zombie_smiley: Police station, diner shots, and Jenny's house shots all went well. I just shot off Matt 68 BTS pics of the weekend shoot.

Yes...It is time...for Uncorrected Screen Grabs!

Last shot is CREEPY TIME!!!!! How far are you from finishing shooting, Matt? Also, have you run into any big snags? Anything that caused you to have to think fast on your feet and work out a last minute solution?

Hey Mark, I am 2 months away from finishing production. The biggest snag so far happened Sunday night. Both Brevis's we had access to stopped vibrating the ground glass within minutes of each other, leaving us Brevis-less. We have a call into Cinevate but we were very frustrated. We had to shoot the rest of the night stock HVX and just be tricky with it. This caused a couple of the scenes to have a non vibrating brevis in them, which I noticed when I looked at the footage yesterday. I believe they will work because neat vieo can remove the frozen grain but it was no fun. Luckily I have a great positive team and we rolled through the dificulty and made all the exteror magic happen with the police etc.

Cool, thnx. Very curious to keep hearing about snags and how you deal with them. I am aiming to shoot in the Fall, so gathering up as much info as I can lay my hands on.

Ah ok cool! So you'll be there? Excellent! Be sure to come out and see NGL opening night! :)

If I am there, I will check it out. It depends on if we are nominated for an award. If so, we will probably be there. If not, then I probably won't take the time off work as it will use up all my vacation time. :( That is awesome NGL will be shown there.

Yeah, it was really strange to have two Brevises quit at nearly the same time. They were both charged and both were very well cared for; babied actually. :crybaby:

Mark, I wish you could have seen our rain rig in action. It was so cool to see it work so well. When one builds something, you hope it will perform, and it really did. Water, water, everywhere. :)

Very cool way to build simple sets to make the right look! Awesome!

The sets are actually drywall and are real walls. I mudded them, sanded them and then painted them. I opted for the actual drywall for realism and low cost. Brandon, I wish I had a big warehouse to store these for future use, but will have to strike them in a few weeks to clear them out of the room they are in. The window is a 4'x3' piece of expensive lexan we will be using later in the special effects shoots. The one-way mirror effect was done with lighting and shadow, and the bolts on the frame of the one way mirror are real bolts. There were three walls: Two 12'x8'... One with a window; and one 16'x8' solid wall. Trim was placed in the corners to complete the solid feel on camera. :)
