Streaming live with HVX in HD?

I work with a production group that want to stream live video in widescreen HD with the HVX200. For some reason, when connecting the 1394 to the laptop we saw no image with the HVX. We did however get an image to work with the DVX and the Sony V!U in HD.
If it worked with the V1U why can we not see anything with the HVX? Could I be missing a menu option? The 1394 port on the cam works fine so I cannot figure it out? Any ideas.

720 24p They really just want a wide screen image online, I don't think HD matters. Good to know about native though. Thanks

We might just want to try Adobe onlocation. We are (or I should say they are) streaming strait through Justin.tv which is connected somehow to their own website and facebook. I'll need to continue playing with the settings and possibly some adapters to work with HDMI or something other than the dv 1394 connection for them.
I'll be sub-renting a friends HPX170 to do this again on Monday to try it's full firewire port.
Appreciate the frame rate and software suggestions. I'll try those Thanks.

I have seen this question asked several times but no one has actually been able to answer it. SO I'll pose it again in a slightly different manner. Why is it not possible to stream footage out of an HPX 170 over the internet to justin.tv or ustream.tv as you would with a dvx-100 or other mini-dv camera?

Actually you can't. No combination of settings, even though Windows recognizes the camera and the camera opens in OnLocation, will allow justin.tv or ustream or the ustream desktop software to view the camera. The camera is recognized but there is just a black screen on the uploader. There are a couple other threads on this and other forums of people with the same problem. Even setting it to 480i will not allow this camera to be used to upload to ustream. If I plug in a PD170 is works fine. If I plug in a little handy cam, it works fine. Hpx 170 not so much.

You've set it to DV mode? With two channels of audio? It streams standard DV out the firewire port if you set it that way.

If you've set it to DVCPRO50, or you have the 25M audio setting set to 4CH instead of 2CH, then I can see it having conflicts, but if you set it to DV (not DVCPRO, but DV) and set the 25M Rec Ch setting to 2CH, it absolutely should work identically to a DVX.

I use ScopeBox directly to a MacBook Pro via FW. Works perfect, however...as mentioned, you can not use the native settings.

This is a decent place to post questions on ScopeBox, as the developers are there to help

We've also had great luck with UStream, albeit with an HVX200a...have not tried the HPX. I've used OnLocation successfully with the HVX as well...many times, however...not to stream live. Only as a way to transfer to larger drives while shooting long form programming...and bypassing P2.

Might give ScopeBox a try (with the free trial), their support is excellent and it's quite a bit cheaper than buying an entire creative suite.

So after reading through this thread there doesn't seem like a clear cut answer how to get the HVX200 to Ustream without a hitch.

I'm looking to attempt this feat mid week and was hoping someone has the magic potion to allow for it to Ustream properly. I'm quite the amateur at doing this so any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time.
