GH3 Strategies for pre-ordering the GH4?

I'm thinking of putting in a pre-order as soon as possible so as to avoid the delays in getting one like what happened for many with the previous models. Does anyone have any insights on this? I know that B&H didn't seem to make pre-orders available for the GH3 until way after it was announced, but how about Adorama? Any other recommended sources for pre-orders? Who is usually the first to make pre-orders available and ship them?
 
Follow on 43 rumors and just use your choice of the first links they post. You could also go the smaller vendor route to avoid being in a long line, but the flip side is that the smaller the vendor the less product they will have. I'd say just be as early as possible with someone/anyone lol
 
When the GH2 was released, it shipped from the Panasonic store long before any stores had it in stock. This up set some people and made others very happy.
 
Pre-ordering a just-announced camera is often a unpredictable gamble. Sometimes you luck out and get your cam sooner than most other buyers, but often you don't.

It might slightly increase you odds of getting a cam sooner by pre-ordering from several vendors, both small local shops and large internet dealers. Or not.

Particularly in the case of Panasonic and their GH line of cams, they usually are very late at shipping relatively large numbers of cams to certain countries, especially the US. In the past, GH1, GH2 & GH3 weren't readily available in the US for many months after they were 1st announced.

Thanks m43user and Peter! I am actually now trying to decide if I really need this camera or just really want it! :)
 
Also, just to add: If possible, avoid doing a pre-order that requires money down (pre-payment or deposit). The forums are littered with tales of woe due to this.
 
Yeah, good point as well. By the way, Amazon says that pre-orders will only open up on March 17.
 
Set up a cron that retrieves the product page from your vendor of choice once every minute, then grep for the string "pre-order" and send a text to your phone when the string is found. Or something like that.
