FS7: Strange XQD card problem

Yesterday I ejected a card from slot A, the one I normally use. The card came right out and looked fine. I then tried to insert another card and it would only go halfway in. Same with any other card tried in that slot. Other slot still takes cards fine and records fine. I tried to take a photo of the bottom of the slots, this is the closest I could get. Anyone else run into this or have any theories? Slot B on the right looks and works normal, Slot A on the left won't take a card and looks completely different.IMG_3618.jpg

Have you tried inserting the original card back into slot A ? Also, do you have a new card handy or at least one that hasn't been used as much? Closely examine the newer card under a magnifying glass and then try to insert it. If it binds, give it just a little umph, maybe even a couple of successive pull/pushes. Then remove the card and again examine under a magnifier. The object here is to see if you detect any markings on the card that could indicate where it's being stopped. Also, is the card being stopped solidly like when attempt a backwards insertion,or is it kind of wiggly or tight? A solid stop may indicated a bent or broken guide in the card slot. If you have a good magnifier you maybe be able to compare the two slots and determine the A slot may need to have a piece of plastic (card guide, etc.) removed. Probably not a bent pin since you are unable to get the card that deep.
Key here is to get up close and personal with the slots so you can make a visual comparison.

Definitely the slot and not the card- the card will go in the other slot no problem. Best I can tell the contact plug that the card plugs into have released from their board and turned sideways. May have to go back to Sony.

As it turns out, a piece of the card (which protects the contacts) had broken off and stayed inside the slot, interfering with plugging it in. Got it out by turning the camera on it's back and letting gravity do it's job. This should only happen with Lexar cards, the early (1100) series being known for this problem. 1300 series should be better.

That is great news and sort of what I would have expected actually.
Did you see the obstruction or deduce the problem by observing a missing piece of the card?
In any case panic is the worst enemy but logic can generally solve many issues.
