Strange VTR problem

Shot with less than 100 hours, my DVX100A is experiencing VTR problem.

No drop-out, not the common problem other people is facing.

This is rather weird. Normally after about 15 minutes of usage, during stand by mode, the VTR seems to 'initialize' itself, as if a new tape has been re-inserted. The TC will reset to all 'zeroes' and the 'no-tape' red icon flashes 2-3 times. This will last for at least 15-20 seconds before it resumes to the normal stand by mode. Sometimes, this problem happen so frequently, once in every 2-3 minutes until I miss some important scenes (when I was shooting Wedding).

Is this because of dirty head?

Re: Strange VTR problem

I've experienced this problem when handholding the camera with my hand in the strap next to the tape door. When it happened, I had a large lens attachment and a matte box attached so it made the camera fairly heavy. This, in turn, put more pressure on the strap which caused me to push in on the camera tape door. I think it disengaged the tape and fooled the camera into thinking I was inserting a new tape.

Are you handholding the camera with the strap when this is happening?

Yes, I was.
So, how to avoid this?
Is this only happening to some units or it's a designed fault?

Re: Strange VTR problem

I just started having the same problem. :'( I thought is was a tape problem. It started when I was reusing a tape that I had all ready recorded on. but after reading this post, I think it is caused by the strap also. I would love to know if anybody else has had this problem and if they have found a solution.
