Strange slot behavior

Every once and while I have an issue where only one of the two P2 cards will mount on my G5 desktop. I usually work around it by unmounting the card and rebooting the camera. It's always the card in slot 1 even if I swap the cards. The interesting thing is that the card will show up in Disk utility even if does not mount on the desktop. In this instance, Disk Utility will show the card as being there, but unavailable. This happens when I mount my HVX on my buddy's G5 as well, so I'm sure it's problem with the camera. To make matters even more strange... I can have both cards mounted on the desktop and only one shows up in the finder.

Anyone else experienced this?

yea it happens to me too, but I've found you could use disk utility to mound the P2 on the desk top. Sometimes both show up, other times only one shows up.

Try this, instead of using 1394 Device Mode in the HVX, switch it to USB Device Mode. Now put the camera in device mode, then on the P2 card itself, switch it to write protect mode, and plug the camera into the computer via USB cable. Its a mini USB connection on the HVX by the way.

This should work 100% of the time, and get slightly better speed than the Firewire connection. As well as being extremly stable.

I had the same problem with the firewire cable on my Macbook Pro. The card would mount maybe 1 out of 10 times and even though it would maybe show up in the disk utility , it still wouldnt mount.
