Strange Size of the footage

After opening the footage in Quicktime I checked the pixel count and is shows quite strange numbers.

1248 x 702 pixels for 720p25
1888 x 1062 pixels for 1080p25

Anybody got a hint ?
 
The camera doesn't record QuickTime files, so whatever produced the files futzed with the data. What is your workflow?
