Strange problem with TV safe LCD display? Suggestions?

Video Pros,

I have used my DVX100a a fair amount and hadn't noticed this issue before, but since I've been using a shotgun mic mounted on the camera, suddently it's an important issue.

My friend was DP on my camera while I directed. The camera LCD doesn't seem to show the shotgun mic in the frame, but when I digitize my tape, the microphone is hanging out in the top right corner of my frame (outside the TV safe boundary). When I have a bit of zoom, the mic doesn't show, obviously.
Aaaaggghhhh!!

It seems like my LCD is showing me 'TV safe' rather than the full frame. I was looking thru the manual but did not see if this is a setting. This is disturbing and I don't want to film without killing this problem -- fast.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Ari

When the DVX100a camera came out, no prosumer cameras were showing entire frames. Underscan monitor required to see full image. Shocking, but hey -- that's why it's called progress, right?
A humorous complaint about the DVX100b was that it didn't show TV-safe lines on the LCD. One person's solution offered -- shoot on the DVX100a.

Oh well...
