Strange PMW-200 audio issue

Hey there,

I'm having an issue when using any external mic on the PMW-200 with the LCD open, and I'm hoping someone can help me out. There is a high frequency noise audible in the audio track that is only present when the LCD is open and on. The tone of the noise even changes when the LCD is swiveled (sounds a bit like tuning a ham radio). It is very noticeable at -50db and above, but is still present at -40db and -30db. Because of the type of work I do and microphones used, I often need to be at -50db, and I also need to use the onboard LCD. I've tried messing with all other settings in the audio menu to see if anything other than the audio level changes it, and have had no luck. Could there be some internal electrical and audio wires running side by side inside the camera causing this? Should I send the camera to Sony? Any help with this would be amazing, thanks!

I've heard this. I owned a PMW200 briefly and ultimately returned it because of this issue after trying out two different units. The tone would change as I panned the camera horizontally or vertically. It's a very faint sound and you'll have a hard time convincing people that it's a fault of the camera. But if you shoot in quiet environments it is indeed a defect.
