Strange issues with projects and multiple computers

Here at work, we're using the CS5 suite. My boss and I cut a project on his computer this morning and then sent it to the network for me to pick up on mine in order to do some effects work in AE. When I opened the Premiere project on my computer, most of the audio was out of sync. I rendered a section to be sure this was the case. My boss reopened the file on his computer and it was fine. We tested on some other computers and it seems to be 50/50. Some have it in sync, the others don't. Any ideas?

Are you using a network resource for the media of the project, and if so, do all the computers have the same 'network' performance?

Or, alternatively, are all the computers at nearly, or identical levels of performance, in terms of CPU and the like.

With networks, are all the 'switches' between your computer and the net resource 1 Gb or are there some 100 Mbs or heavier traffic (or is your setup that big...).
