Strange battery message with 5D Mark III

Just got a 5D Mk III and put in a Canon LP-E6 battery that I've been using in my 5D Mark II without issue. When I turned on the Mark III it said "Communication with right Canon LP-E6 battery is irregular. Continue to use this battery?" It's a Canon battery and I use it in the Mark II all the time. Any idea why it would say that?

This is a known bug of the new firmware. Did you update?

I just bought my Mark III two days ago. It came with 1.2.1. I put the battery back in and the message didn't show up. Besides the message is there any effect?

Should perform normally other than annoying message you will have to click when camera powers up.

Canon tripping on their proprietary batteries reminds me of when I bought a new car. I hadn't realized until I pulled away that it was necessary for me to immediately put gas in the tank.
