Straight to HDD

Hey Guys I am new to the DVX I have had lots of stuff done with one but I am a new owner. Any how I was wondering if there is a functional way to go straight to my harddrive? I have a Macbook Pro so DV Rack is out of the question and ive tried Scopebox for mac and for like a minute and a half video it was something like 300megs any how if any one could help that would be great

DV Rack isn't out of the question, you could run BootCamp on your MBP and run DV Rack there.

DV footage takes up 13 gigabytes per hour, or about 3.6 megabytes per second. So 90 seconds of video would take up something like 300 megabytes, yes. That's how DV works, all DV recorders will take up the same amount of space.

Just wanted to chime in and say what Barry suggests is exactly what I did for a corporate video job last week. We had one MBP running Boot Camp & XP with DV Rack for one camera, and a second PC tower also running XP / DV Rack for the other. Both the MPB and the PC had external USB 2.0 drives attached for storing the footage. It all went off without any problems. We even used MacDrive to mount our HFS++ formatted external drives under Windows and it worked great.
